Are Secretlab Chairs Worth It

DXRacer and Secretlab are two of the best brands available when it comes to gaming chairs, but which brand really is the best? In this article, I’ll take a look at this topic in detail to help you to decide which brand to go for on your next gaming chair purchase So, DXRacer vs Secretlab: Which one is the best? Apr 22, 2019  Verdict: The Secretlab Titan is one of the most comfortable chairs I’ve ever sat in and it is one of the best racing-style gaming chairs currently available. Its adjustable lumbar support, sleek design options, adjustable armrests, flatter seat base, and its competitive price point help it. Feb 3, 2017 - The SecretLab Titan is a gaming chair, which is a chair specifically designed. I spend at least 70 hours a week sitting in my office, it's worth it.

UPDATE: How is the Secretlab Titan Holding Up After A YEAR?Hey everyone, I hope all is well with you. Today, I wanted to come back around and give you a quick update on my experience sitting in the gaming chair.I’ve been sitting in my Secretlab Titan now for over a year and that has given me a little bit more perspective on the kind of quality it offers than when I first reviewed it. I’ve been sitting in the Titan gaming chair for over a year and it is still just as comfortable as the day I got it.On my original review, people have asked me how the PU leather is holding up, if the material on the arm wrests is still intact, and if I still like sitting in the Titan. And, not to mention, Secretlab has released some different options on the Titan in that time span, and so I figured I’d give you an update on how the chair is holding up as well as the different options that are available on it now.Again, Secretlab did send me this chair to review and if you do click on the links in this guide and end up purchasing the Titan, I will get an affiliate commission. Of course, you could always just go to Secretlab.co and buy the chair without going through my link. But, any commission I get does help me out, and it does allow me to continue holding giveaways. So, if you do end up purchasing this chair, I really appreciate your support. And if not, no big deal!

While I would have picked the all-black version of the Titan if it were available back in March of last year, I really like the Stealth edition’s gold-stiched logos. But, I do want to give you an updated look at the Titan and try and shed some light on the kind of experience I have gotten from it in sitting in it for the past year. And, hopefully that will help you determine whether or not this chair is right for you. How Are the PU Leather and PU Arm Rests Holding Up?First, how is the PU leather holding up?

Are

The synthetic leather on the Titan is holding up just fine for me. There’s no cracks or peeling or fading, or anything wrong with the leather. It’s perfect.

A lot of people have asked whether or not the PU leather on the Titan is still in good condition. I can safely say that it is still in perfect condition. Now, PU leather is known to fade or crack or peel over time. And, there are people out there who avoid synthetic leather at all costs because they have had bad experiences with it in the past.

And, if that’s the case for you, that’s completely fine. For those of you that don’t like PU leather, Secretlab has recently introduced their Softweave material, which you can get on either the larger Titan or the smaller Omega.

Are Secretlab Chairs Worth It Work

(The Softweave series does cost a bit more than the PU leather options, though.)Secretlab did release a fabric-version of both their Titan and Omega series chairs, which they’re calling their Softweave series. They also offer genuine leather versions of both their Titan and Omega series chairs.

I personally have not sat in either the Softweave series chair, or their genuine Napa leather series chairs, and both of them do cost more than the PU leather versions, but if you do want to avoid PU leather, Secretlab does offer alternative options. Just like how the PU leather on my Titan is still in excellent condition, so, too, are the PU-coated armrests. Also, on the material on the armrests, everything is still intact there as well.

And, in fact, anything related to durability and built-quality, the Titan is not really any different than the day I got it. Secretlab Titan Now Comes in All BlackNow, the one gripe I did have about the Titan when I first reviewed it is that there was no “all-black” version of the chair. I have the Stealth edition, which is black with red stitching and a gold stitched logo, but if I had the option to choose my ideal color scheme, I would have wanted a completely blacked out chair. Secretlab now offers both the Titan and the Omega in an all-black color scheme.Secretlab didn’t have that at the time, but they do now offer an all-black color scheme for both their Titan and Omega series chairs. So, if you’re like me and you want an all-black color scheme, you can now get one.

A New Appreciation for Flatter-Style SeatsAnd, I think one other point that I wanted to make, that maybe I’m better able to make now that I’ve sat in a few different options, is that, with gaming chairs, one of the biggest knocks you’ll often hear on them is their bucket-style seats A look at the “deep” bucket-style seat that is common on most racing-style gaming chairs. I find these types of seats to be restrictive and not very comfortable for long sitting sessions.and, to be honest, I agree. The bucket style seats just make you feel confined and aren’t really comfortable to sit with, especially if you like to sit with your legs spread further apart. And, that’s one of the things that I love about the Titan. It doesn’t have exaggerated bucket-style seats, and that ultimately gives it a much wider and more comfortable seating base. The base isn’t perfectly flat—which I do think would be ideal—but it is pretty close and so you can sit with your legs wider than on some of the other options out there where the bucket-style seats won’t allow it.

The Secretlab Titan’s base is quite a bit flatter than the standard racing-style chairs and it gives you plenty of room for your legs. There are other high-end gaming chairs that also offer seat bases that don’t have the overexaggerated bucket-style seats. I think Maxnomic or NeedForSeat offer a very similar model to the Titan, and I know DXRacer’s Big and Tall series comes with a flatter seat base, and I’m sure there are others as well. A side-by-side comparison of the Titan’s wider and flatter seat base and the GTRacing GTBEE’s more restrictive bucket-style seat. The bottom line, though, is that if you are looking to get a racing-style gaming chair, just note that the options that come with deeper bucket style seats can be restrictive.

But, if that’s not something you could handle, there are options that forego the bucket style seat to give you a wider base—the Secretlab Titan being one of them. After A Year of Use, the Secretlab Titan is Still Going StrongUltimately, while the Titan may no longer give me that initial excitement that comes from having a brand new product, I still love the chair and it has exceeded my expectations. So, I do recommend the Titan for medium to larger users who are looking for a racing-style gaming chair that will hold up well over time.If you want to check out the Titan,. That is an affiliate link and, again, I will get a commission if you do end up purchasing the Titan through my link. Of course, I greatly appreciate any support. But, you can always just go directly to secretlab.co and get the chair that way as well.In any case, thank you for reading and I hope you found the updated version of this review helpful!.If you want to watch the unboxing of the Titan and/or read the original review, keep reading. Secretlab Unboxing & Assembly. Before we get into how it feels to sit in the Secretlab Titan, as well as some of the other features it offers, I first wanted to go over the unboxing and assembly experience. For the packaging, Secretlab put together a well-packed box and overall it was a nice unboxing experience.

Everything was well-protected and covered up.Assembling the chair wasn’t difficult at all. And, in fact, one of the coolest throw-ins for this chair was the large assembly instructions that came inside the box.I’m not talking a paper booklet with janky sketches of the assembly processI’m talking a huge poster board that has step-by-step instructions with actual pictures of the assembly process. And, Secretlab also has an that you can use to take you through the process as well.Ultimately, the assembly process took me about 20-30 minutes and was fairly painless. I’ve seen a few other who have purchased the Titan say that the seat base is too firm. However, I never found the seat base to be too hard to sit on—even in the beginning Or, at least, no firmer than any other office/gaming chair I’ve sat in. I would say that it has gotten a little softer over the year that I’ve sat in it but not too much overall. What kind of chair are you used to sitting in? Something softer, I’m guessing?Ultimately, it could just be that the Titan is on the firmer side and that’s how I prefer it. But, again, I’ve sat in a bunch of other gaming/office chairs and, in my experience, the Titan hasn’t been any firmer than those.

I’m a heavier smaller guy and for me it’s very sturdy and I’ve been gaming in it most nights for long hours and all weekend. My only thing it I’m getting use to the stiffness that is the seat. It for sure will hold up and not bottom out as quickly as most chairs do. This is why I bought the black to replace my old one. After using mine about as much as you do for about a month I can’t even feel a dent in the seat foam. I thought I’d have made an impression to my body but nothing yet, it’s still as flat as it came. How would it do for the extra-large people?

Considering getting my husband a good gaming chair for his birthday this year, he used to be a Super Agent at Nintendo in the 1990’s, he misses serious gaming and I want to encourage him to get back in it since he misses it, but he’s a big guy and not getting any younger! A lot of the chairs I’ve looked at don’t look sturdy enough for a big guy. Not wide enough, not good enough shocks, stem too wobbly. I want something STURDY that can hold him AND our little girl when she runs to jump on daddy’s lap (as she does unexpectedly) and won’t break or flip.

The Titan has a maximum height/weight capacity of 6’4″ and 290 lbs. As a comparison, and chairs have a maximum height/weight capacity of 6’7″ and 450 lbs. Those chairs have a bit wider of a seat and back rest than the Titan as well. Price-wise they do run at $600 compared to $400 for the Titan. But, ultimately, the Titan might not be the best fit for your husband if he’s up at the upper limits of the chair’s capacity.

If he’s under, it should serve him well.As far as sturdiness goes, though, The Titan is a super sturdy chair. The build quality on it is first rate.

I’m someone who likes his tech and toys. If possible, I’ll spend that extra bit of money for the unlocked processor or the monitor with the higher refresh rate (not to mention the occasional statuette). But I’ve often neglected the most intimate item of the office space: the seating beneath me.

After all, isn’t a chair just a chair? It’s a prejudice that was recently challenged by the Singapore-based Secretlab, a gaming chair company now bringing its products Stateside.

They provided us with their latest and greatest, the TITAN; and after spending more than a week in its embrace, my back and behind are thankful to having my biases proven wrong. The TITAN earns its name for its size and how it can accommodate taller and wider individuals (up to 6.40 feet and 286 pounds with a seating width of 21.26 inches), but what elevates the chair – no pun intended – is the range of features that allowed me to personalize the experience to my exact needs. Before we dive into those specifics, let’s discuss what it’s like to put the TITAN together.Assembling the TITAN is a relatively standard affair compared to other office or gaming chairs. The wheels and hydraulic piston attach to a base, the backrest is joined with the seat via screws, and so forth.

It’s nothing at all difficult, but the TITAN is quite heavy and requires a bit of force to align certain parts. I recommend having a family member or friend nearby to offer help. You can put it together on your own, though my own attempt to do so ended in a few curses. Thankfully, there was no need to curse the instructions.

Secretlab’s guide is a thick, large pamphlet full of actual colored pictures and readable English. They’ve even have a well-made YouTube video that you can follow through the entire assembly process.Once upright, the TITAN wouldn’t look out of place inside a muscle car. The sides of the backrest curve forward and flare outward, moving from its base to the top. The upholstery is black polyurethane leather, but gold, silver, and red stitching add another layer of refinement to the TITAN’s attractive appearance. The red lines follow the outer edges while company and product names and logos are attractively embossed in gold and silver on the back, front, and seating of the chair.

Altogether, the TITAN is a rather commanding presence. Titangif457b2f9c-044c-4db1-b5fa-ef3747e88873As previously mentioned, the TITAN is more than just a sleek-looking chair. I quickly fell in love with all that I could do with it, beyond the usual multi-functional tilt and height mechanisms. The most obvious feature is the reclining backrest.

Pulling a lever and applying a little force can bring the backrest to a position that in a pinch wouldn’t be uncomfortable to sleep in. But the backrest has more options than just reclining. A dial along the right side adjusts the chair’s inbuilt lumbar support.

Turning it clockwise increases the curvature and firmness of the lower backrest. I appreciated this a lot more than shoving a loose pillow behind me.

My only complaint is that the dial can be hard to reach while sitting in a neutral position, though admittedly there are few other places it could be go. The arm rests are equally adjustable. Secretlab dubs them 4D, or four directional.

Three buttons allow for movement up and down, forward and back, and side to side. A little push and pull angles them.

If they’re still not quite at the right width, they can be unscrewed from the bottom, moved, and reattached. The benefits are obvious and welcome.

And if you’ve got cats that love to take over your damn property the moment you move away, being able to drop the armrests so the chair can slide cleanly under a desk is a victory for mankind. So what’s it like to actually sit in the TITAN for extended periods? And how does it compare to the thick fabric office chair it’s battling to replace? I’ve always been a fan of fabric. Leather chairs more often than not wear down, tear, and expose flesh and bone to the hard metal underneath.

I was nervous the TITAN’s polyurethane leather, foam, and harder arm rests would be too firm a difference I wouldn’t enjoy it. Those fears were ultimately unwarranted. I can’t imagine going back to any other chair but this one.For starters, the backrest’s solid form and aforementioned recliner and lumbar support features make a huge difference to overall comfort. Fabric is soft and inviting, yes, but it was all too easy to slouch in my previous chair. The TITAN has kept me upright and my spine well supported to the point where it’s lessened my usual aches.

Your head and neck aren’t without support, either. Included in the box is a pillow that can strap to the top of the backrest. It’s fairly thick and plushy.

It can’t move down too far because of the curvature of the upper chair, but it’s a nice addition nonetheless that’s been a further help keeping myself planted straight. The foam underneath the polyurethane leather is molded and cold-cured. It’s created using the process shared by automobile seating. The foam and thus chair are supposed to be more durable as a result, and I found little reason to argue.

It shouldn’t compress much with age, unlike the cheap leather chairs I’ve bought in the past. That doesn’t mean the TITAN is hard. The foam and leather are soft and comfortable while maintaining a solid resistance. In fact, the chair almost melts away from thought due to how well it fits the shape of my body. There’s little to no fidgeting or leaning to be had. Everything just feels right.I thought it couldn’t get any better than my fabric chair. I had it in my mind that the high claims about gaming or expensive office chairs were exaggerated, despite how frequently said chairs appear in the videos of streamers.

I’m happy to have been mistaken. The Secretlab TITAN is the best I’ve sat in. Soft, resilient, customizable, and absolutely wonderful for my back, it’s easily replacing what came before it.
